Inside, you’ll find premium materials, clever space optimization, and an abundance of storage, because adventure doesn’t mean compromise.

Designed to Live With

The 144” wheelbase is a deliberate choice. It keeps Recon manageable in the real world — easy to park in a city garage, comfortable on a two-lane highway, and proportional enough for drivers who don’t want a vehicle that demands attention just to operate. But don’t mistake compact for compromised.

Inside, swiveling Mercedes-Benz factory driver and passenger seats anchor the front lounge alongside a teakwood card table, creating a proper place to debrief, plan the next stretch, or just enjoy the view out a full-size window. Behind them, a quick-release two-seat bench with child seat latches gives families flexibility, and a rear teakwood dining table with dinette seating for six means the whole group eats together at the end of the day.

When it’s time to rest, the custom Exclusive Outfitters aluminum panel bed (72” x 72”) offers a full-size sleeping surface at the rear, while the electric slide-up pop-top opens up a second sleeping area (55” x 77”) overhead. No wrestling with canvas. No setup routine. Just push a button.

Off-Grid Systems, Fully Loaded

Recon carries a 630Ah lithium battery bank fed by a 400W solar charging system and a dedicated secondary alternator, meaning the bank is charging whether you’re under open sky or moving down a highway. A 2000W pure sine inverter handles whatever you plug in, and both 110V and 12V distribution are available throughout the van. A 30A shore power hookup keeps things simple at campgrounds or RV parks.

For climate, CruiseNComfort chassis mounted air conditioning runs off the lithium system independently of the engine, a meaningful distinction for anyone who has sat in a hot van waiting for the alternator to catch up. An Espar diesel heater handles the cold end, and interior heated tanks keep the water system functional in four season conditions. A 40-gallon extended fuel tank stretches the range between stops.

And perhaps the most innovative addition, the Exclusive Outfitters in-house fabricated Molle Panel. This custom mounting system takes versatility to a whole new level. It’s designed to hold traction boards, fuel and water containers, recovery gear, and even a fold-down work table. Whether you’re setting up camp, performing trail repairs, or preparing for a long off-grid stay, this system adapts right alongside you.

Water, Galley and Everyday Comfort

Recon carries 37 gallons of interior fresh water with heated tanks for year-round operation. The exterior shower with on demand hot water is there when you need it. Inside, the galley runs on a Black Walnut butcher block countertop with soft-close drawers, a storage cabinet, a portable induction cooktop, a microwave, and a refrigerator. Everything in reach, nothing wasted.

A swiveling TV and electric Nomadic awning round out the living space. Small details, but they are the ones that make a long trip feel like a home.

Suspension, Protection and Trail Gear

Recon is built to leave pavement behind. The Agile Off-Road Fox Racing RIP Kit suspension delivers tuned, trail-ready performance without the harsh ride that typically comes with off-road upgrades. Engine and transmission protection comes courtesy of the Agile Off-Road skid plate, and an Aluminess front bumper with Warn winch means recovery options are always on board.

Up top, a custom Aluminess roof rack carries gear and keeps weight distributed properly. Out back, an Aluminess rear tire carrier with cargo box and a Power Lift electric bike rack for two bikes expand the load-out. An ARB onboard air compressor with dual-connect system handles tire management in the field, and dual ladders with EO Molle Panel and surf hooks add access and versatility on both sides of the van.

For coverage and comfort at camp, Rolef magnetic bug screens fit the slider and rear doors, and blackout window covers keep the interior dark when it matters. Deep rear storage bins with six removable gear totes and 12 custom soft storage bags give everything a home.

The Exterior

Matte Military Green is not a trend color. It is the kind of finish that looks right on a trail and right on the street, purposeful, not performative. Paired with tobacco leather inside, Recon carries a palette that is earned rather than styled. Full LED interior and exterior lighting round out the package.

Why Recon

The buyers who come to us for a Model B already know what they want: a van that does not force a tradeoff. They do not want to choose between capable and livable, between weekend-ready and weekday manageable. Recon was built to answer that directly.

630Ah of lithium power. Fox suspension. CruiseNComfort A/C. A full galley, a full bed, and an AWD platform that goes where you point it. Nothing was included as an afterthought, and nothing was left out to hit a price point.

This is what a Model B looks like when it is built all the way out.

Every Exclusive Outfitters Sprinter van conversion tells its own story. From compact off-road rigs to legacy builds that are still out there putting in miles, each van that leaves our floor is engineered with the same philosophy: purpose-built, fully dialed, and ready for wherever you point it. here are a few of our favorites.

  • Tonka – A Pebble Grey 144” Mercedes-Benz Sprinter conversion sitting on 35” tires with a Van Compass 6.3 suspension system that adds two inches of ground clearance, adjustable rally struts, and custom leaf springs. Tonka seats four and sleeps four, carries a 630Ah lithium battery bank and 400W solar system, and is built for the kind of terrain that stops a standard van before it starts. Compact in footprint. Uncompromising in capability.

  • The Ranger – A 144” AWD Model C pop-top Sprinter finished in Matte Military Green with full custom leather upholstery and teak interior details. The Ranger seats five and sleeps four to five, runs on Go Power solar and an Espar diesel heater for all-season comfort, and is equipped with an Agile suspension package and Warn winch for when the trail gets serious. It went from California switchbacks to the edge of the Pacific in a single day. That is what it was built for.

  • The Red Beast – A legacy build that never stopped turning heads. This bold red 144" 4x4 Sprinter with matte black wrap accents, full leather interior, Agile Off-Road 2" RIP suspension, and a 630 Ah lithium power system continues to prove that an Exclusive Outfitters build does not age. It evolves. Rugged enough for the backcountry. Refined enough for everything else.
